Nell’ambito della seconda edizione del “Maggio a Piedimonte”, rassegna a cura dall’Assessorato alla Cultura del Comune di Piedimonte Matese, l’Associazione “Caserta Promuove” in collaborazione con la “Caserta Film Commission”, ha organizzato una minima retrospettiva della cinematografia sul fenomeno del brigantaggio.
Nei giorni 7 e 8 maggio 2010 verranno proiettati, a partire dalle ore 18:00, rispettivamente un film degli anni 50 e un film degli anni 90.
Seguirà domenica 9 maggio 2010, alle ore 19:00, un convegno sul tema “BRIGANTAGGIO 1799/1880 TRA STORIA ED ARTE” cui interverranno: il prof. Costantino Leuci (Assessore alla Cultura del Comune di Piedimonte Matese) che parlerà su “Brigantaggio Pre-Unitario”, il dott. Alberico Bojano (Storico) con la relazione “Per una lettura contemporanea del Brigantaggio Postunitario” e la dott.ssa Barbara Rossi Prudente (Regista/Sceneggiatrice) che interviene su “Brigantaggio nell’Arte”.
Coordinamento dello storico dott. Rosario Di Lello e con la partecipazione dell’attore PierGiuseppe Francione.
L’evento si svolgerà presso l’Auditorium del Museo Civico, in via Ercole D’Agnese a Piedimonte Matese.

Nei giorni 7, 8 e 9 agosto 2009 si svolgerà a San Gregorio Matese la nuova edizione delle “Notti dei briganti”.

In tre giorni sarà rievocata l’epoca del brigantaggio postunitario del 1860, con spettacoli teatrali, mostre documentarie, convegni culturali, animazioni nei vicoli del paese e degustazione di prodotti tipici della gastronomia di montagna.

L’Associazione Pro Loco “Le Mura” e l’Associazione culturale “I Briganti del Matese” organizzeranno nell’ottobre 2009 a San Gregorio Matese una Giornata di Studi che vedrà gli interventi di oltre venti studiosi e professori universitari. Infatti la Giornata mira ad un confronto a più voci sulla realtà di una comunità dell’entroterra meridonale, sottolineandone il ruolo da essa avuto nella storia sociale dell’Italia degli ultimi secoli, a cominciare dall’emigrazione postunitaria.  Il tema dell’incontro è “Il Matese oggi: fare cultura in un’area di emarginazione” e sarà presieduto dal professore Luigi Parente del Dipartimento di Filosofia e Politica dell’Università degli Studi di Napoli – l’Orientale.

L’iniziativa si svolge con il patrocinio della Amministrazione Comunale di San Gregorio Matese.

In San Gregorio Matese, inside the splendid setting of Villa Ginevra garden, today the Town Hall seat, on August 8, 2008 there was the convention on “Brigands and senators”. A comparison opportunity to re-examine the dramatic vicissitudes in the years following the Italy unit, when the Savoia repression provoked extreme poverty conditions in Southern Italy.

The meeting was comprised in “The brigands night”, a three day events about the learning and folk traditions linked to the south brigandage event.

After the introduction of Antonio De Lellis, mayor of San Gregorio, there were the speech of Onorato Bucci, professor of Roman Right in the Molise University, and of Alberico Bojano, author of many historical studies about Matese in the nineteenth century.

During the convention there was also the preview of the movie “the brigands of 1860”, a rereading of post-unit events carried out through the collage of famous movie frames as “The gattopardo”, “O rre”, “Allonsanfan”, “Il brigante di Tacca di lupo”.

At the end of the convention there was also a theatrical performance in neapolitan dialect and a savoury tasting of typical Matese foods.

On May 26, 2008 in the Villa Ginevra garden, the today Town Hall of San Gregorio Matese, an interesting meeting about “Garibaldi out of side out of time” has been promoted by the inter-municipal school institute.

After the statements of Antonio De Lellis, mayor of San Gregorio, and Antonio Montone, mayor of Castello Matese, the scholastic director Angelo Barbato explained the Giuseppe Garibaldi myth and figure.

Historical context of local and national events has been outlined by Attilio Costarella, president of the Caserta section of Historical Institute of Risorgimento; Alberico Bojano has recalled the bonds between Garibaldi and some personalities of Matese area.

The senator Carlo Sarro spurring speech was on the over-national aspects of Garibaldi’s action. There was the presence also of the Revenue Guard Corps lieutenant Liliano Liberato and of the San Gregorio town all councillor Antonio Mallardo.

The day star guest was Mrs. Anita Garibaldi, journalist, writer and president both of Garibaldin National Society and “Thousand women for Italy” movement.

“I consider you grandsons of mine” said the general’s descendant to the student; so, in an admirable synthesis, she outlined the polyhedral vicissitude of the Two World Hero.

The Anita Garibaldi fluent prose and helpfulness have made perfectly clear the various aspects of Garibaldi’s figure. Her speech ranged through unpublished cues and well known searches.

A meaningful moment was when she remembered the sadness for the growing social injustice situation in the Southern after the Italy unit.
